A little update on where we are with Korea...
We have purchased tickets for December 29th. we fly to Vancouver for $400, Vancouver to Seoul, Korea for $1050. can anyone really afford to fly in Canada anymore?! vancouver to Korea is 11.5 hours - yeah, a long one.
the catch is that our passports are in Vancouver at the moment, and we're hoping that FedEx will decide to deliever between Christmas and Boxing Day. they received our info on Friday and need 5 days to process, so as long as they send them out on Friday, Dec.22nd, we should receive them by the 27th or 28th - at least a whole 'lotta prayer is going up that we will get them in time. we can get into the country without visas for 6 months, but we can't teach and we'd need to leave the country to get work visas. plus they are in possession of our passports, so we can't get too far without those. so we're praying they arrive in time.
we've started packing - and it's great to pack with craig. if he only needs 8 pairs of pants for a year, what do i need 30 pairs for? so i try to take 2 more than his max on whatever he is taking. we haven't got to the shoes yet - i may have to cheat a bit there. he keeps asking what else he needs to pack and is convinced he doesn't need 2 bags - but i'm sure he'll be surprised once we throw in winter parkas and stuff. but we don't need much. our place is going to be furnished and our teach materials are supplied. we're basically taking clothes. we hope to become as 'Korean' as possible - as possible as it is for 2 while Giants to fit in to a country of short, Asian people.
craig is pretty concerned about culture shock since he's only been to mexico for 10 days 10 years ago. he's worried he'll be annoyed with the amount of noise - people yelling on their cell phones, speaking fast and loud to their friends. I'm most concerned about the amount of people. there are 48 million people in South Korea and it's 100 times small than Canada. that just kinda blows my mind! hopefully our flat is 'sound-proof' enough that we can get away from the noise.
when are you coming to visit?

I will pray that all will go smoothly. Wished I'd had a chance to really say goodbye, without being all distracted by Kellen's wailing. (He fell asleep just as we turned off your street.) Have a very Merry Christmas!
