before Baby Reid came...
Just wanting to write down all that we did before Baby Reid came...or comes, considering he/she still isn't here yet!
Now to test my brain and see if I can go back far enough to remember everything...
Last Tuesday I met Jen M for a pedicure. Shan decided she loved hers so much before Emmanuelle came that she would give me one - so i passed it along to the mom of 1 year old triplets! it was my first pedicure and something i could totally get addicted to! we had a great morning.
Thursday, after our ultrasound app't, we went to visit Grandma Mastrangelo. She's recently moved into a new home and seems to really love it. When we asked her advice on baby things, she just kept saying - 'as long as the baby is healthy, that's what matters. We're not going to give it back!' So blessed to have a grandma close by who gets to be a great-grandma someday soon! Also, a friend of grandma's came by her room and wanted to visit with all of us. She had an interesting story about names - how back in her day someone suggested she call her little girl Isabelle and she grimaced and said - 'i would NEVER name my child a name like that! she will be named Linda!'. I had to laugh! Cause nowadays Isabelle/a is one of the top 10 names for girls and i'd be surprised if Linda is on the top 100! Oh how generations change, eh?!
Craig had the weekend off so we went to the Mooney's on Friday evening...and stayed till the wee hours of the morning...playing poker! : ) not fair for us to do to parents of 4 kids who need their sleep! guess we'll find out what it's like to parent on very little sleep soon enough.
Sunday was a good day too. After church we went for lunch with the Banduras and Harm. Little Emmanuelle is so sweet and fun to be around!
Then headed over to mom and dad's for an afternoon of lounging.
Then to the McMillans to hear about missions in Brazil.
Monday my fun friend Andrea picked me up and we went to Red Lobster for lunch. yummy! and great conversation.
Monday evening Rachel Husband finally got to come by. She'd been taken out for 10 days with that virus that's talked about constantly on the news these days. It was so great to see her.
Tuesday mom came over with homemade spaghetti sauce and we made gnoccoli or 'knuckes' as Grandpa Mastrangelo used to call them. She also did my dishes and got all the last minute Baby Reid things ready to go! It's so great to be in the same city as my parents having their 3rd grandchild...now if only he/she would make an appearance!
Lots of fun-filled days with friends. Sure does help pass the time waiting for baby when you're surrounded by good friends and family!

Head Down!
Dr.McMaster ordered an ultrasound for us on the 12th. She wanted to check fetal position since she was not 100% sure Baby Reid was in the head-down position.
We went to the hospital, went up to fetal assessment and hadn't registered at the front desk. We had to go back down to register and come back up again to fetal assessment and were 10 minutes late.
So we waited 1hour and 10mins.
Hopefully we won't make those kinds of mistakes once Baby Reid is here! i can't imagine sitting in that waiting room with nothing to do for that long with a toddler. But i'm sure it's going to happen more often than i'd like in life!
Anyway, we waited for our app't then were taken to a room.
I lied down on the bed and Craig very nervously told the nurse - you know we really don't want to know the gender! and the nurse said - well, then don't look! : )
She put the little ultrasound wand thingie on my belly and in a millisecond she said - yes, head down.
So we waited 1hour and 10mins for a millisecond answer.
of course we're grateful...and annoyed at the waiting period.
Nurse said - while you're here, we'll just check out some other things too.
So Baby Reid is doing very well - strong heartbeat, good fluids, stomach, organs, position.
All set!
Then the nurse let us look at the monitor - and we saw Baby Reid in there for the 1st time since my 20 week ultrasound - from the waist up!
I asked the nurse if she could predict our due date and she said - as soon as you eat Chinese food, the baby will come the next day.
But that's not gonna help since we've already cooked and eaten our favorite spicy Korean dish, dukgalbi, and Baby Reid still isn't here!
We thought it was an ironic app't to have the day after our due date, but I'm so glad we got to see our little baby and know everything is going well.
Just waiting on Baby Reid to come now.
After that, my husband and I spent the day together. I'm so incredibly thankful that we've had a week now since I stopped working to spend together. we went to visit grandma and mom stopped in there. We went glider rocking chair shopping. We went for dinner. We went to mom and dad's and called Baba Sass. We went to watch Josh play hockey. We came home and watched a movie.
We just spent time together and a couple. A couple waiting for their baby to arrive. : )

Due Date
Today we have reached 40 weeks of pregnancy - our due date.
Not much happening - today.
But last night was a different story!
There was so much pressure in my upper abdomen, but not real contractions.
But that much pressure bothered me quite noticeably until 3am.
Good thing I'm not working anymore!
So what did we do to pass the day waiting to see if Baby Reid would arrive on his/her due date?
We made pita pizzas, 4 dozen meatballs, and stacked the freezer with chili and our favorite Korean dish - dukgalbi!

So, we're ready for you Baby Reid.
At least we know we won't go hungry once you're here!
Aside:
Daddy-to-be guessed in our family Baby pool that his daughter would arrive on Tuesday, November 10th at 9:17pm.
But she didn't.
Not even after we laughed our way through the evening with my parents and Phil Callaway.
So now the new countdown begins...how many days overdue until Baby Reid arrives?!

I QUIT!
well, not exactly quit but I have finished working!
I've been working as 'receptionist' at WCC's main desk as receptionists get trained and moved into new positions. It's been great, but I felt very overwhelmed last night.
Craig and I talked and I just felt like working every morning and then needing to nap every afternoon for 2 hours and then go to my swimming lesson or make supper or go out to visit...
it just felt like things were never ending and I was completely overwhelmed and exhausted.
Craig decided Wednesday needed to be my last day of work.
And I needed my husband to sit me down, make a firm decision and just tell me what to do because it is the best for me.
We figured 1 week before our due date I should be able to take it easy.
Besides that, I was feeling like this 'alone' time in my life that I've had up until now is about to quickly be over. It's not a negative thought or feeling, but just a realization that 'my' time is about to not be mine anymore - very literally. I will have a small infant who needs me completely at almost every moment for its survival. And I'm sure for the majority of the time I will be very excited to be caring for our baby.
But I have lived my whole life without another person being dependent on me and that's what I've known. And all of that is about to change.
So here's hoping I get a few days for me and for us before our lives drastically and wonderfully change - forever!

November
It's November.
The month Baby Reid is due.
10 days until our due date.
I wonder which day Baby Reid will decide to join us.
Last night I thought Baby Reid was getting ready to come! Now I think it was my first experience with Braxton Hicks. Sensations, pain, and discomfort like I had never felt before.
No Baby though.
At least, not yet.

Belly Mishaps
As I continue to get bigger these last couple of weeks, it's amazing to realize how big my belly has actually gotten!
2 ways I have noticed the 'growth spurt' the most:
1. When you open or close a door, how often to you hit your belly with the door? Yeah, probably not that often, eh?! Well, mine just seems to always be in the way! Whether I'm going into a bathroom stall or opening the bedroom door, my belly often gets a little bump! I just can't seem to judge how much distance there is between my belly and the door! And because of that, I've managed to, or almost, snag my clothes on doors more often than once! Nothing big enough to cause any belly-bruising though, so i'm thankful for that.
2. Have I mentioned how big my belly is? Have I mentioned how many times a day I drop something on the floor? Have I mentioned how difficult it is to bend over and pick things up? Have I mentioned how I'm not a clumsy person by nature, until I reached week 30 of pregnancy?! It certainly is a long way down, especially when you're bending over 12 times a day! That's not an exaggeration, unfortunately. And it's amazing how things not only fall, but roll away to the squishiest little corners that would be difficult for a not-pregnant person to have to try and reach and pick up!
My belly is simply too big.
But somehow, these days, I just don't mind that much.
It all seems to be worth it!
