i made something rare in Korea for Craig's dinner - lasagna! and travis laughed when i told him how i made it since we don't have an oven. we really enjoyed our toaster-oven lasagna and i managed to make 5 small tin pans of it so put in the freezer. Also, craig was spoiled with some oreo cheesecake cupcakes as we opened presents that arrived that day in the mail from his folks. I was just as happy as craig with that fact, as my present was ordered from Canada and sent to his mom to send in the package. amazing how quickly mail can be delivered when you're willing to pay a little extra! and thankfully nothing was taken out of the package (we think/we hope!) as it was poorly taped back up by customs.
Saturday night we met up with Trevor, Julie, Daniel, Kate, Nicole, Julie, Tracy, Lucas, and Kaley and ate dukgalbi - yum! our fav korean dish. then we headed over for some retro bday fun of - BOWLING! as everything done in korea - the locals really get into their activity. it's just bowling, right?
but we obviously forgot to:
first - joing the bowling league. Saturday night at 9pm is obviously prime time in Jeonju!second - have matching shirts!
third - own our own ball.
fourth - have protective gaming gear such as wrist braces with the index finger extended out for maximum bowling pleasure.
i'm pretty sure there is NO 5 pin bowling in korea. you get 10 pins and you can choose the weight of your ball. so go big or go home! we had fun playing 2 games with everyone. just took us back to a time of being 8 years old at a birthday party with friends - good times!
Fun times! I'm glad we were with new friends for Craig to celebrate with. The highlight of his birthday was the group card that 75 people signed for him...so if you're one of them - thanks for making his day so special! he was overwhelmed with the response (as was I!) and the well wishes from everyone. Somedays we still feel very far away, so it was a great way of letting Craig know how much he is appreciated.
