This weekend flew by and was FULL and lots of fun!
Friday night started with Rachel's 'see you in a month' outing - it was great and we finally made it home in the wee hours of the morning. those South Africans are just crazy guys and we're glad they are in Iksan cause they are tons of fun! See you in September, Rach!
On Saturday a WELCOMED phone call came from our school saying they were going to change our air con! (they call air conditioners air cons here!) we were hopeful - but didn't allow too much excitment in - never know, just might get disappointed. but, our air con arrived by 3pm, and my first question was 'is it better?!!' they told us ours was 'power 4' and the new one (BRAND new - still in the box!!!) was power 10!!!! yeay! that's what i like to hear! they hooked it up within the hour and the thermostate read 31 degrees above zero - not including the humidex!! it was recorded as 38 on Saturday - but aoon there was a point where we had to turn it OFF because we were COLD!!!! yeay! that's what i like to hear! now we are sleeping/living in peace - and eating better cause we can turn the gas stove back on again without dripping sweat. we are still sleeping in the living room with the plastic wall craig has put up, but we are cooler.
Headed to church feeling much more rested and spent a great time with Daniel and Margaret. Just love that God brought those 2 into our lives. they have quickly become special to us and will be for a long time to come.
Then, on sunday we were invited by our taekwondo master for lunch. we headed to Busan dong with Robin (who got back from Canada saturday night), Tyzen who was visiting from Incheon, Nicole, Master and small master for glabi, then bibimbap, then sam geulp sal. wow. what a feast. then we went for coffee!
after lunch we met Ben and Julie who offered to sell us their bikes after 2 years of working here in Iksan. we were soooo happy to buy them - and for a great price of $70 total! we road home from CGV in 5 minutes - we were elated! we just get places sooo much faster now! thanks guys. we'll miss you around here and will ride in remembrance of you!
that evening, Robin came over with a CARE PACKAGE!!! you have no idea how great a care package really is until you've moved away from home and have truly MISSED home. and somedays we feel like we are not remembered - that we're here in Korea and life goes on in Canada without anyone noticing that we are no longer there - but then mom and dad send a CARE PACKAGE to show how much they care! some just yummy contents and ROOTBEER! when I lived in Estonia, my friends from Sweetwater, Tx sent a care pack with Rootbeer and Kraft Diner - and 5 years later I get to share them with Craig. my tastebuds were DANCING with Root beer this evening - 8 looooong months! some great little trinkets which tells me mom is thinking of us - and probably thinks of us pretty often.
Then our new Kiwi friends (New Zealanders) came over and we chatted and ate and laughed and played Steal. It's really great to meet new people who you feel you've known for most of your life.
A really sweet weekend. we stayed up way too late, ate too much, laughed and laughed, and grew closer to people. who could ask for anything more?!
