Happenings

June 6th marked Korean Memorial Day - which meant we got a day off!! so, we piled into 2 cars and took off for Daecheon Beach. Rachel, Robin, Lucas, Nicole, Tracy, Do hyun, and Sarah enjoyed the cool afternoon on the beach. Finally the sun came out and we headed in for a swim. I don't believe i've ever swam in the ocean before - at least i've never had to spit out all the salt water like i did that day! wow! it was awful! and not because i was 'gulping' down any water, but it stays on your lips forever!

We brought some smokies and meat and fired up the bbq - thanks to Rach we had a roaring fire in the pit cause she brought the aerosole hair spray and that made everything ay-ok! just a relaxing day at the beach.

Funny things Korea brings:

went to use the facilities and noticed a tub on the side of the wall with taps so people can wash their lettuce leaves and veggies for picnics - Len would be in heaven! but the water was getting all over the sidewalk. later on, the local worker came to try and repair the cement sidewalk. He was jack-hammering with one hand, smoking with the other, no safety equipment or 'watch out' signs, all his dust was mixing with the water and making wet cement - and all this directly infront of the washroom doors. you had no choice but to swerve around the one-armed jack-hammer-er and go through the wet cement. they felt they had to fix the sidewalk on a national holiday at the crowded beach.

Just beyond the washrooms there is a big square with a big fountain for people to watch and others to rent bikes, etc to ride around on. mostly kids. and one kid was sooo enthrawled with rachel and i that rachel had to stop the 6 year old from running her over - like he didn't have a whole parking-lot-area to ride in!

Craig and i went to Shrek 3 last weekend. Our dating days have were wrapped around Shrek and Fiona and their 'really-really' love and the fact that Fiona is 'transformed' into her beautiful being - an ogre. don't know if that means i am truly and ogre at heart or if Craig is smelly with layers like an onion, but we love Shrek and Fiona. this was no exception. Loved it! the 3rd of any movie is always hard to beat out the other 2, but we chuckled out loud. A couple our age were sitting beside us with their little girl - she's problably 3 1/2 and the size of Ceara who isn't even 8 months. Tiny, tiny children here!! she was sooooooooo excited to be watching Shrek and she fit in between her parents on the seats so they didn't have to pay for another ticket. she was screaming with delight when the dreamworks boy floats up to the moon with his balloons - so all this was before she even saw Shrek. she was clapping and shreiking for the first 20 minutes - it was really cute. then, that was it. she had spent her energy and couldn't handle it anymore - she slept the rest of the movie. soooo cute!

just some happening in South Korea this fine June month!

Beautiful. Just wonderful.

Sing. Sing. Sing. Sing.
Praise. Praise. Praise. Praise.
To. To. To. To.
The Lord.

Sing unto the Lord a new song, sing praise to the Lord. Glorify the king of ages, his praises renown.

Holy, is the Lord.
Most holy is the Lord...

Opps. Sorry. I thought I was on someone else's blog.
