Taekwondo DOWN!

In the spirit of Korean-English, I can't go to Taekwondo for 1 week. So, Taekwondo down!

On Friday night our 5 foreign teachers went for supper to a place across town for galbi. yummy. On our way out, we were walking on their steps that were lined so beautifully with wood pillars or something and i stubbed my toe on one of them. really hard. it was throbbing. but i had to endure through the pain cause we were on our way to see Transformers! Craig and I both loved the story line, the special effects, the whole movie in general. we don't own many movies, but this will be one for the shelf, for sure! it was great!!

Saturday we spent getting stuff done around the house, craig preparing for teaching at the university for July - he's teaching the 'english club' as they have holidays but want to study with a foreign teacher 3x/week. got in a taxi with our groceries to go home, and had our first accident! still can't believe we haven't been in one before. The cabbie didn't want to wait to cross the traffic, so went down a side street between Home Plus and the LG Store (this is for my benefit, not yours!) realized he had to make a u-turn around the pilons in the middle of the street, was waiting for the guy in front of him to get out of his illegal parking spot so the taxi could complete the turn. The illegal guy backed up, and kept backing up, taxi laid on his horn, but too late! so, no one was hurt, taxi flagged down another taxi for us but we can't figure out who insurance will say was at fault. The guy who was parked illegally and had to back up into the taxi who had made an illegal u-turn?! perplexing.

Friend Greg was having a gallery showing of his pictures at Coffee Myonga (great little coffee shop with yummy cheese cake!) so lots of foreigners were there for awhile. Then went for dinner with our new friends from South Africa since we have the connection through co-worker/friend Tracy! Ended up playing pool at Manhattans with everyone. Good times.

Sunday morning Rachel, Robin and I went on a road trip/adventure. We were headed for Osan or Pyeongtaek to do some souvenir shopping before Robin heads home next weekend for the month. We were already lost 30 minutes out of Iksan, lost in the bermuda triangle of Korea called Nunsan - but Rachel managed to drive down the same road a couple of times and come out at different places that got us back on the right highway. amazing the tiny streets with trees hanging over them that lead us to a major highway. We have toll highways here, so after getting off one, we literally turned the corner to find another one - that we had to pay at. we were expecting one we could get a start ticket from. Pulled over and went inside the office to find out we just had to show them our piece of paper. we made it to the Osan Airforce Base shopping mall! and it was worth it all! great prices on everything we were looking for...and only a 2 hourish drive. plus, i got to eat a WHOPPER!! yum. it's been awhile. we headed back to the highway, thought we'd try a new one, followed all the signs, and then it just disappeared. lots the highway.

Got back in time to change and make it to Red Rock for our Canada Day Celebration. Everyone wore some Canada gear, brought some meat and had a potluck. Played some Cranium, although we took off after we lost at foozeball!

So, Tuesday morning we finally arranged for me to go see a doctor about my toe. It had been throbbing most of the weekend with me walking on my heal or my side and wasn't getting much better. Had some x-rays taken and found a contusion (proper usage of the word? who knows) on my big toe - or my big toe is a contusion?! anyway, no taekwondo for 1 week with lots of rest, medicine, and ice.

so, Taekwondo DOWN!
