Korean Lessons

We started taking Korean lessons the first week we got here - cause we were soooo frustrated with not understanding ANYTHING! unless, of course, it happened to be in English. but we've noticed that Korean's like to use English words - even if they don't go together. they just like how they sound, so they use them. We bought some notebooks to do our Korean homework in and notebooks are the best to buy! craig's is called Go Success and has a saying - me wherever my life is lived, O to be self-balanced for contingencies, To confront night, storms, hunger, ridule, accidents, rebuffs, as the trees and animals do. - Yeah, that's nice. succeed through everything.

Our Korean teacher is Sae-min (Say-min) who is an English teacher at our hagwon (private school). She's really sweet and teaches us for free cause she thinks she's able to practice her English, so we swap. We are trying hard to understand this language, but we're only in our first couple of weeks. we are learning a few basic phrases and the alphabet. Consonants tend to change their sounds depending on where the vowel is placed or what surrounds it. K and G are interchangable, L and R, etc, so it will be complicated. but we are surrounded by it as you can see on the signs. we'll see how well we do!
