Seoul

Last weekend we piled into Rachel's car with Sarah, Robin, Craig and I and headed to Seoul. We haven't been to Seoul since we flew into Korea, at night, and slept most of the way to Iksan during the bus ride. So we were ready to see some sights...
...and we did! we saw cows. COWS! in the PASTURE!! an amazing site in Korea. Beef is rare. Roaming is even more rare.
We saw a man hanging from a wire on the highway - we weren't even at the Circus yet!
The traffic was INSANE heading into Incheon, a suburb of Seoul.
Saw some more great English signs - Hoby Dick store. 'you spelled my store sign wrong.' 'it'll cost 2000 won to change it' 'ah - leave it. nobody will know the difference.'
It took us 1 1/2 hours to find Rachel a parking spot - yes, the traffic is INSANE!
We took the subway to Cirque du Soleil! It was outside in a big-top tent near a baseball diamond and Olympic Star Street.

Quidam in Korean. Excited like little kids to see the circus.

We were not disappointed, but we were in trouble for taking a picture of the stage. The roof was like looking up into a starry night. The masks on display were beautiful - and a steep 120,000won.

We were near a baseball stadium, so we got some shots of the after-party. Look like anything you'd want to have at a baseball game? How about some octopus or squid-jerky to chew on?
The subway was FULL! i loved being on it since it's been 5 years since i've been on one. Moscow, Kiev, Berlin, to name a few. It's an amazing feeling to be surrounded by soooo many people at once. Sarah is our blonde friend in the sea of dark-haired Koreans.

The other highlight of my weekend was - STARBUCKS!!! it has been a loooooong 4 months without a chai tea latte, so i got a tall which grande which cost 4800won ($5!) craig thought it was the regular price...oh no! it was not. that was for you Heather, Jen, Amy. Miss our times together.
We headed back on Sunday with Robin to take KTX train as Rachel went to the airport to pick up her sister Bethann. Outside the station they had a set of water stairs that would light up as the kids played in it.

No pictures of the hotel, but we had a sweet pad with a huge bed, big screen tv, jacuzzi tub, shower with 6 shower heads spraying at different heights - beautiful! all for a great price of 70,000won...complete with a single bed... for Rachel. We love you Rach!

I am so happy for you guys. Totally wish I could have come with you on that trip. I'm sure I would have gone postal with the whole traffic issue, but other than that. Great. The circus. The clowns. The squid-jerky. So much soul in Seoul!
Ew! That was just sad.
