Seven Wonders of Canada

We got an email from Craig's sister and friend in Thunder Bay to vote for the Sleeping Giant for one of the 7 wonders of Canada. Take a look at the list at the link below. Some beautiful parts of our country are on that list. Since my mom's family is also from Thunder Bay, we have casted our votes!

May 15, 2007 – Thunder Bay could be home to one of the Seven Wonders of Canada if you cast your vote. The City of Thunder Bay Tourism Division has been joined by many local residents in submitting the Sleeping Giant as a contender in a unique promotional campaign through CBC called "the Seven Wonders of Canada". Out of 18,000 entries, the Sleeping Giant made the top 50 list for voting.

The City of Thunder Bay is asking residents to go to www.cbc.ca/sevenwonders and cast your vote for the Sleeping Giant. Residents are also encouraged to ask friends and family outside of the City to participate by voting for the Sleeping Giant.

“This is a great avenue to promote and share Thunder Bay's incredible natural beauty across the country,” says Paul Pepe – Manager, Tourism.
cbc.ca says:
"The Sibley Peninsula, or the Sleeping Giant as it's known in Thunder Bay, is a natural rock peninsula in the shape of a giant sleeping person. The rock juts into Lake Superior and forms Thunder Bay. There are many stories around this landmark. One Ojibway legend identifies the giant as Nanabijou, who turned to stone when the secret location of a rich silver mine, now known as Silver Islet, was disclosed to white men.
