This week in the land of the Okanagan, we took 20 (average/day) kids with us on an island adventure at Son Treasure Island! We learned that God's love is the Treasure Forever and worth more than Gold or Silver. We sang songs that stuck in EVERYBODY's heads - so much so that people were practicing them in the shower and couldn't get to sleep at night "God's Love is Treasure Forever, Treasure Forever - doot du doot doot doot doot doot, du duu doot, du duu doot" Every one had a really great time. The highlight for most of us was a 10 year old guy named Myles. He was visiting a family in town for the summer as he lives with his mom in Kamloops and generally doesn't have a great family life. He 'needed' everyone's attention on Monday and would attempt to get it anyway possible - which was generally opposite to the way we had hoped kids would get our attention. On Tuesday the leaders met for prayer and brought Myles name up, praying that he would see that God loves him and he's worth something. Tuesday was amazing. Myles participated, sang, did crafts, and even asked Craig how to look up the memory verse in the Bible. By the end of the week, this 'misfit' was the most encouraging kid around. He was helpful and full of compliments for our leaders. It was awesome to see how God touched him this week.
As he was leaving, I know it was especially hard for Craig knowing he couldn't be in Myles' every day life. But he did send a Bible along with him and told him there are lots of Christians out there who can help him learn about God's love.
God's love is Treasure Forever!
