Deajeon

After Muju, we drove to Daejeon - a city of 1 million. On the way, we saw lots of rounded grass structures that we learned were graves for ancestors. We made our way to TGIF's for a soft taco and a burger! it was nice to have some things from 'home' - although the only time i've ever been to TGIF's was in Moscow!
They did sing happy birthday for a little girl - and not in the typical way we're used to seeing. The waitress really played guitar while they sang for 2 minutes to this girl! they were really good. i think it's a great idea.

Our main reason for heading into Deajeon was to shop - at COSTCO!!! it was soo exciting! we were hoping for cottage cheese, soft or hard taco shells, and rolled oats for oatmeal. we didn't get any of those, but did get some shrimp, marble cheese, frozen strawberries/blueberries, and almonds! we managed to spend the exact amount of money we had planned to, even though the things we wanted were not there.

We went back on the train with Robin since Rachel's car was piled high with so much food that only herself and Roxanne could fit! we missed getting on the early train by 1 minute, but managed to keep ourselves busy for 1 hour till the next one came. We played 'up a river and back down again without a paddle' - actually i never remember the name of the game. I learned it from Craig's parents. but it was fun! we had to be extremely quiet on the train as that is the norm! our first train ride in Korea and Craig's first since he was a little kid - it was a great way to end our weekend.
